We offer two varieties of Beef - Dexter and Angus/Jersey cross.

Dexter Beef needs little introduction - they are the smallest native breed and originated in Ireland. A Dexter is roughly half the size of more conventional breeds, the meat is well marbled with lovely butter coloured fat and produces a tremendous and distinctive cut of Beef. We have a limited supply so forward ordering is essential. 

Angus/Jersey Cross Beef

Brewhamfield Farm is located near us in the Brue Valley. It is home to a herd of pedigree Jersey cows that are farmed organically producing lovely creamy Jersey milk.

In order to produce milk a cow needs to calve, however the farm only needs a small percentage of replacement milking stock, and in particular wants to ensure the male calves have a good life and have added value as beef stock. Some of the herd are put to pedigree Jersey bulls to sustain the purity of the line however the rest are put to young pedigree Aberdeen Angus bulls, producing a fantastic cross breed for beef - the result great beef and milk.

Brewhamfield have pioneered with the Aberdeen Angus / Jersey cross to produce prime beef.

The combination of the Angus and Jersey produces a unique meat. The confirmation of the Angus produces a classical well structured beef animal – the meat has a terrific texture – and all the traditional qualities we expect from our beef. The Jersey adds a more fat and it is this that adds the distinctive flavour. This is the best marbled beef we have found.

The young animals are free roaming in the meadows during the summer and are kept on deep straw in shelters in the winter. The animals are bred, raised and fed in an organic manner.

All of our beef is dry aged for over a month by careful hanging and is traditionally butchered. We supply beef boxes or a mixture of joints to suit your needs.

The Jersey/Angus animals are bred, raised and fed to organic standards but are not processed through an organic butchery so are not certified organic.
